RIYADH — The Saudi Ministry of Culture is organizing a Camel Festival in Riyadh on Dec. 26-28 to mark the conclusion of the Camel Year 2024 initiative. During the festival a presentation, featuring most remarkable achievements of the cultural year, will be screened, in addition to a group of accompanying events. Partners and sponsors who contributed to enriching the Camel Year will be honored during the closing ceremony on the third day of the festival.
The Camel Festival is aimed at enhancing the sense of pride in the elements of national cultural heritage, and raising awareness about the cultural importance of camels in Saudi society. It embodies the profound cultural impact of camels, enhances the preservation of heritage, and highlights the historical and cultural role of camels in society. The festival combines celebrating heritage, presenting events that enhance the sense of pride in cultural identity, and supports industries and arts related to camels such as handicrafts, traditional foods, and camel restaurants.
The festival includes four contemporary camel related cultural activities. The first one is Camel Paths, which is a contemporary cultural march that combines camels and performing groups to embody the types of camels, and the performing arts associated with camels. The second one is “Camel Hump”, which is an experience using light projection technology that allows the visitor to watch camel journeys between the picturesque terrain of the Kingdom on the back of a model in the form of a camel.
The third is “Al-Wajnaa”, which is a screen that displays 3D animated content about camels, and the fourth one is a special corner that showcases the achievements of the Year of the Camel, including several activities including the Paris March, the Camel Ajla, the Huwayal Melody, the Camel Decorations, and the Mizyouna character to enhance the youth’s connection to camel culture through an exciting interactive experience.
